Tony Awards 2023 winners

Broadway’s biggest night, the Tony Awards were announced after a fun ceremony wrapped up on June 11. The 76th Tony Awards took place at the United Palace in Manhattan’s Washington Heights. The night had Ariana Debose as its host with a lot less people in attendance because of the ongoing WGA strike that has rocked Hollywood since months now.

The host too mentioned the writers’ strike in her opening speech at the awards ceremony where she showed support for her “siblings” at the Writers Guild of America. She playfully said that as a result of the strikes, neither she nor anyone else would be reading from a script since they are all written by members of the WGA.

Tony Awards 2023 is special as Alex Newell and J Harrison Ghee made history as they became the first openly non-binary actors to win Tony awards. Jodie Comer won big as she won Best Leading Actress in a Play for Prima Facie.
